Commonwealth Home Support Programme Funding
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) offers essential support for older Australians who need assistance to remain living independently at home. This program provides a range of services, including assistance with daily tasks such as cleaning, meal preparation, and personal care, as well as transportation and social support.
CHSP is designed for individuals who have lower-level care needs and do not require extensive support. It serves as a stepping stone for those needing a bit of help to stay in their own homes while waiting for more comprehensive care services.
Eligibility
Individuals who are 65 years or older (50 years or over for Torres Strait Islander or Aboriginal people) are eligible to apply for CHSP support.
Those who are 50 years old and above (45 years or older for Torres Strait Islander or Aboriginal people) are also eligible if they are on a low income and homeless or if they are at risk of being homeless.

How to Apply for CHSP
To apply for CHSP, individuals should start by contacting My Aged Care to register and arrange an assessment. An Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) will evaluate their needs to determine eligibility for the program.
Once assessed, those approved for CHSP will be connected with local service providers like Kirinari who can deliver the support needed.
