WorkFoundations is a paid employment program helping people who face barriers to employment build their skills, gain real work experience and take steps toward their future.

WorkFoundations is part of the Australian Government’s Paid Employment Pathways package.
The program provides funding for social enterprises and businesses to offer paid employment placements of up to six months for job seekers experiencing complex barriers to employment.
Participants earn real wages while gaining practical experience in a workplace that matches their skills, interests and goals.
Alongside their placement, participants can access tailored, wrap-around support to help address barriers and build their confidence and work readiness.

Every person’s pathway into employment looks different. For some, it’s about building confidence. For others, it’s about discovering what kind of work they enjoy or getting their foot in the door with their first workplace experience.
Here are some of the people who are building their skills and exploring what’s possible through WorkFoundations.
Angel
From no previous work experience to building confidence in a professional workplace.
Angel is completing a placement with Albury Business Connect, supporting the team with marketing, administration, research and copywriting.
Three months in, Angel says he’s more confident than ever and feeling much more optimistic about his future.
Matt
Getting his foot in the door and discovering where he wants to go next.
Matt is completing a placement with Enviroculture, gaining hands-on experience across landscaping and outdoor work. He’s building confidence, pushing himself outside his comfort zone and getting a clearer idea of what he might want from his future career.
Kayliah
Building independence, confidence and a routine at Rise Espresso.
Kayliah is working as an all-rounder at Rise Espresso, helping with everything from taking orders and delivering coffees to running food and supporting the team behind the scenes. She says the placement has helped her become more independent and comfortable in a work environment.
