Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC)

What Is Specialised Substitute Residential Care?

Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC) is when a parent makes an arrangement with a registered service provider for their child to receive overnight care outside of the family home.

Why Choose Kirinari For Your SSRC?

Kirinari is a registered SSRC provider

Kirinari comply with the SSRC Code of Practice

Kirinari is actively involved in making sure the children and young people in our care are safe. We follow the below SSRC Code of Practice when caring for your child.

To help your child’s SSRC placement be a success, we will talk with you about:
  • Your child’s likes and dislikes
  • Your child’s routines
  • How your child communicates
  • The types of support your child needs
  • Your child’s disability
  • Activities your child likes
  • Emergency contacts and instructions
  • Things your child may have difficulty with and ways to support them; and
  • How we can meet your child’s needs

What SSRC Does Kirinari Offer?

Kirinari’s Specialised Substitute Residential Care arrangements include:

  • Planned and reoccurring short-term care
  • Long term care; and
  • Emergency respite (when available).

We work with parents and external organisations to support the safety and wellbeing of the children and young people in our care and work to improve the coordination, planning and delivery of these services.

SSRC may be provided as a one-off emergency placement or on a regular or long-term basis.
